Basic Policy on Customer Harassment

The Murata Machinery Group (hereinafter referred to as “Muratec Group”) is committed to helping our customers and society grow by creating innovative technology and providing valuable products and services. We value our customers’ feedback and will continue to respond to their requests with sincerity.

At the same time, we must protect the dignity of our employees and ensure a safe and secure working environment for everyone. We have a zero-tolerance policy for customer harassment. If this behavior occurs, we will take strict action in cooperation with the authorities. Based on these principles, we have established this Basic Policy on Customer Harassment.

Basic Policy

To ensure a safe and secure working environment for our employees, the Muratec Group will address customer harassment based on the following principles:

 

1.We prioritize employee safety and dignity above all else.

If any customer harassment occurs, the company will take organized, systematic action to support the employee.

 

2.We resolve issues through clear and sincere communication.

We will listen to the feedback and requests of our customers and business partners, verify the facts, and provide clear explanations in good faith.

 

3.We will take action if the behavior does not improve.

If abusive behavior persists, we will take necessary measures. This may include changing the assigned personnel, restricting contact methods, or reviewing our terms of business.

 

4.We provide continuous support for our employees.

We will maintain internal consultation hotlines, provide mental health support, and conduct regular employee training and awareness campaigns.

 

 

Definition of Customer Harassment

Based on the guidelines of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, the Muratec Group defines “customer harassment” as any complaint, demand, or behavior from a customer that uses unreasonable method or actions that harm an employee’s working environment.

Specific examples include the following:

Physical and psychological attacks

Assault, physical injury, verbal abuse, shouting, threats, intimidation, or insulting personal remarks.

 

Unreasonable or excessive demands

Demands that go beyond contract terms or technical specifications, demanding apologies or money without valid reasons, or forcing unrealistic delivery deadlines.

 

Excessive or persistent behavior

Holding excessively long phone calls, visits, or online meetings; or repeatedly making the same demands.

 

Discriminatory or inappropriate language or behavior

Discriminatory remarks regarding gender, age, or nationality; sexually inappropriate remarks or conduct; or insulting or derogatory comments.

 

Defamation and sharing private information

Slander, posting an employee’s personal data on social media, or uploading unauthorized photographs, audio, or video recordings online.

 

Unlawful acts and disruption of business

Trespassing on business premises or factories, disrupting daily work operations, or making aggressive demands that bypass official company procedures.

Response to Customer Harassment

If, after verifying the facts, the Muratec Group confirms that a customer’s behavior is harassment, we may refuse or limit sales of products or services to that customer.
If the customer harassment is persistent or malicious, and the customer ignores our warnings to stop, we will take strict action. This includes legal measures.
