  5. Disclosure of Environmental Information
We regularly disclose information regarding our company’s policies and the status of our initiatives. We seek our business partners’ understanding and cooperation regarding our company’s philosophy and activities, and we work together to address environmental challenges under our partnerships.
  6. Enhancing Environmental Education
We provide appropriate education and awareness activities to enable each employee to show consideration for the environment and act proactively.

Implementation Framework

Environmental Management System

The Muratec Group has established a management system to actively promote initiatives for reducing environmental impact under its environmental philosophy and to continuously improve environmental performance.

ISO14001

ISO 14001 Certification Status

We have acquired ISO 14001 certification, the international standard for environmental management established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). By establishing and operating an environmental management system, we comply with environmental laws and regulations and strive for continuous improvement in performance.

ISO 14001 Certified Sites

Head Office, Kisshoin Office, Inuyama Plant, Ise Plant, Muratec Mechatronics Co., Ltd. (Shiga Plant and Oita Factory), Murata Tool Ltd. (Gifu Factory), Major locations of Muratec C.C.S,Ltd.

Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions

The Muratec Group is advancing its efforts to reduce CO2 emissions generated by its business activities through the introduction of renewable energy-derived electricity and effective energy management (energy saving, energy generation, and production efficiency) as part of its commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. We are making efforts to contribute to society’s decarbonization and sustainable development.

Targets & Results

2030 Target FY Ending March 2025 Results
CO2 Emissions 18% reduction in total volume
(compared to FY ending March 2018)
8% reduction in total volume

The 2030 targets and results apply to the Head Office, Inuyama Plant, Ise Plant, Kaga Factory, and Muratec Mechatronics Co., Ltd. Shiga Plant and Oita Factory.

Initiatives

Energy Saving for Equipment

In order to advance energy conservation efforts at our business sites and factories, we are progressively replacing older, less energy-saving production and air-conditioning equipment with the latest models.

Reviewing Production Processes

We are striving for more efficient energy use by reviewing our manufacturing processes, taking steps such as replacing copper brazing, which requires high temperatures for component joining, with laser welding.

Installation of Solar Power Generation Equipment

To reduce CO2 emissions associated with electricity usage, we are advancing the installation of solar power generation facilities and storage batteries at major domestic locations as part of our energy creation activities. In fiscal year 2024, solar power generation equipment was installed at the Oita Plant of Muratec Mechatronics Co., Ltd., and operations commenced in March 2025. We plan to introduce this system at the Ise Plant in fiscal year 2025. Moving forward, we will advance our efforts to achieve our environmental goals while also considering expansion to other facilities.

Resource Recycling & Pollution Prevention

The Muratec Group reduces environmental impact through initiatives such as curbing resource consumption and reusing or recycling used resources. We will conduct business activities that efficiently utilize resources and consider resource circulation and pollution prevention by reducing water usage during production, minimizing chemical use, and decreasing waste during product disposal while improving recycling rates.

Targets & Results

2030 Target FY Ending March 2025 Results
Waste Emissions 5% reduction in total volume
(compared to FY ending March 2018)
1% reduction in total volume
2030 Target FY Ending March 2025 Results
Water Usage 3% reduction
(compared to FY ending March 2018)
24% reduction
2030 Target FY Ending March 2025 Results
VOC Emissions 3% reduction
(compared to FY ending March 2018)
84% increase

The 2030 targets and results apply to the Head Office, Inuyama Plant, Ise Plant, Kaga Factory, and Muratec Mechatronics Co., Ltd. Shiga Plant and Oita Factory.

Initiatives

Efforts to Reduce Chemical Substances in Solvent-Based Coatings

At the Machining Department of the Inuyama Plant, which primarily processes parts for the Machine Tool Division, the proportion of powder coating has been increased while reducing solvent-based coating in the painting process. This has led to a reduction in chemical substances (VOCs: Volatile Organic Compounds). Furthermore, we are advancing efforts to switch to environmentally conscious paints that do not contain VOCs for use in solvent-based coating applications.

Material Recycling of Resin Waste from Molding Processes

At the Muratec Mechatronics Shiga Plant, we are advancing initiatives to recycle waste resin generated during the plastic molding process. Discarded waste resin is collected by an external recycling company. Recovered waste resin is reused by recycling it into industrial products and other items.

Reducing the Environmental Impact of Packaging Materials

At the Ise Plant, we are implementing an initiative to switch from wooden crates to cardboard boxes for packaging materials used in product shipments. Until now, nearly all shipments to overseas destinations were packed in wooden crates. However, we are progressively adopting cardboard packaging to reduce deforestation for wood materials, decreasing CO2 emissions during truck transport by lowering packaging weight, and improving the recycling rate of packaging materials.
Additionally, each facility is working to reduce packaging materials in the transportation of parts to suppliers and other facilities. In particular, by promoting the use of reusable containers, we are reducing the use of disposable plastic and wooden packaging materials, aiming to achieve efficient resource usage and waste reduction.

Development of Environmentally Conscious Products

The Muratec Group will continue to develop and provide products with superior environmental performance to contribute to the realization of a decarbonized society through our products. CO2 emissions from products sold by the Textile Machinery Division, Machine Tool Division, Logistics & Automation Division, Clean FA Division, and Communication Equipment Division account for 90% of our total CO2 emissions (Scope 1, 2, and 3). We are therefore committed to developing environmentally conscious products, aiming to reduce environmental impact through improvements to our products’ energy savings and enhancements to their capabilities.

Initiatives

Energy Saving for OHT

For OHT (Overhead Hoist Transport) systems, a key product of the Clean FA Division, a significant portion of power consumption stems from heat loss in the power supply lines of the non-contact power supply system. Therefore, development focused on reducing heat loss in these power supply lines, a measure that significantly contributes to lowering overall power consumption. We have developed a system that achieves energy savings while also enabling expansion onto existing equipment at our customers’ factories. This system maintains the transport capacity of the carts and supplies power equivalent to or greater than current levels. The number of implementation cases is gradually increasing.

Reducing Environmental Impact with the AIcone Automatic Winder

The Textile Machinery Division’s AIcone automatic winder incorporates an energy-saving design into its products and also works to reduce environmental impact during the manufacturing process at the factory. During the design phase, we optimized various controls and improved equipment efficiency, including enhancing the control of high-power blowers. As a result, we reduced power consumption per unit of production by 5% compared to the previous model. In the manufacturing process, iron scraps and chips generated during machining within the Group are reused, with recycled iron accounting for 60% of the iron material used in the “drum,” a key component of automatic winders.

Green Procurement

The Communication Equipment Division is committed to environmentally conscious activities at every stage, from development and design to raw material procurement, manufacturing, distribution, use, and disposal. To further promote these activities, we recognize that it is essential to strengthen environmental conservation activities in cooperation with our business partners and to prioritize the procurement of raw materials and services with low environmental impact in our procurement activities. We have therefore established the Green Procurement Guidelines.
