Murata Machinery Announces Launch of the Fiber Laser Punch Press “MF2048HL”

Kyoto, Japan – Murata Machinery, Ltd. (President: Daisuke Murata), a leading manufacturer of sheet metal processing machines, today announced the launch of its new fiber laser punch press, the MF2048HL, scheduled for release on 1st April, 2026.

The MF2048HL is a newly developed combination machine that integrates fiber laser cutting with the proven MOTORUM servo motor-driven turret punch press platform, which has over 30 years of history.

Compared with previous Muratec laser punch press models, the MF2048HL delivers higher energy efficiency and a significantly more compact footprint.

The machine offers a press capacity of 20 ton (200 kN) and is equipped with a large-capacity turret, enabling high-performance punching. An optional 4-axis or 8-axis tapping unit is available as an independent tapping unit installed outside the turret. With a wide range of optional features, the MF2048HL supports not only punching and laser cutting but also a wide range of forming operations—including extrusion, embossing, countersinking, deburring, and tapping—making it an all-in-one processing solution.

Thick Turret-compatible turret is also available, providing an optimal setup for users currently using spring-style tools of similar specifications.

Equipped with a 3.0 kW fiber laser, the MF2048HL can cut material up to 6.35 mm thick. When connected to automated material handling systems, the machine supports long-duration unmanned operation.
